Borough Cross-Country Races

We are delighted to let you know how well the St Mary's athletes did today in the Borough Cross-Country races.

In the first event of its kind, our Year 3 & 4 girls ran 1000m and finished 6th, 8th and 26th, out of a field of approx 80 runners.

Over the same distance, the Year 3/4 boys all finished in the top 20 in a field of approx 90 runners.

The three Year 5 / 6 girls ran 1600m and stormed in first to claim the gold medal. All three of these girls have now qualified for the London Mini Youth Games at Parliament Hill on Saturday 20th November. The Year 5 girls had excellent finishes and we are hopeful that they will receive the overall girls team award. There were 100 runners in this race.

The Year 5 / 6 boys were motivated to match the girls all finished in the top 10 Year 6 runners so have also been invited to compete at the London MYG XC. The Year 5 boys ran well too and know the goal for next year. There were over 100 runners in this race.

That is an excellent outcome for our athletes, and has increased the number of pupils taking part in this event.

Many thanks to our fantastic parents who attended in number.
